Slight panic followed by long wait.

Tuesday

I had a good sleep in and basically once I got up I had just enough time to get myself ready and pack my bags before check out time.

Once down in the foyer I used the Wi-fi to follow up on a couple of issues for clients before heading out to lunch with Jonas.

We had soup and noodles near the hotel. Back at the hotel and Jonas soon was on his way and I thought I'd better check the flight since Thomas had reported problems flying to HK yesterday due to a typhoon.

I was a bit worried when I found out the flight was cancelled. After searching over the Cathay site for extra info I got the front desk to call Cathay for me. I had been booked on to another flight which had already been delayed to 40 minutes after my original flight time. This will still get me to HK with plenty of time to make the connection to Heathrow.

I couldn't see any benefit in staying in the hotel so I headed for the airport, catching the slower and slightly cheaper train. I was still here very early and after passing thru passport control found a place to connect to wifi.

I have a Priority Pass card which allows me to access airline lounges all over the world, although they are not always available in every airport - eg only Melbourne international and Cairns in Australia. It turns out that there is one available in Osaka airport but it was before immigration. It also seems it is impossible to go back.

So here I am pretty much back where I found out about the lounge. I guess running around looking for it killed half and hour or so, but still more than an hour till boarding.

After being so hot in my track suit on arrival I have spent the day insho rts. I expect it will be much colder in London so I have brought the tracksuit to change into later. I was planning to do that before checking my bag but I'm really glad I didn't as it is still warm in the terminal even with aircon.

BTW I have just run speed test on this connection. Bearing in mind I get under 4 mbps download and 1 mbps up load at  Home, in this airport there is an impressive 41 and 45 mbps available for free via ethernet and 8 and 8.7 via wifi.
